Project Period: July 2010-August 2011

Implementation Area: Baglung-3 VDC (Gwaili Chour, Vimgithe and Jaljala)

Number of Piloted ECD Centers: 32 Centers (Baglung -21, Kapilbastu-11)

Project Goal:
Create an enabling environment for all children in ECD Centers in project areas including some children who were affected and living in the difficult circumstances (including trauma, differently able children) through art and painting activities.

Project Objectives:

  1. Increase ability of targeted children to express their feeling and views through drawing and painting.
  2. Increase number of currently out of school/ECD Children, especially girls, gaining access to education
  3. Strengthen capacity and improve accountability of education institutions from community to national level 

Expected Results:

  1. Improve quality of ECD Centers 
  2. Increase new entrance of Grade 1 with ECD experience above 30% from baselines in program working areas 
  3. Increase enrollment in ECD
  4. ECD children benefited from basic health services provided by government 
  5. Constitutional/legal provision made
  6. VDCs/DDCs allocate fund for ECD centers 
  7. Government plan and policies developed for education in emergency and peace education 

Key Achievements:

  1. 32 ECD centers have implemented HEART activities.
  2. 32 Facilitators have developed knowledge in HEART activities
  3. 6 VDC authorities were aware of HEART
  4. 767 Children were benefited 
  5. 2113 Adult were benefited 
  6. 288 Management Committee members were aware about HEART activities
  7. 213 people observed children activities
